Monferrato
On June 22, 2014, Monferrato was declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The main characteristic of Monferrato lies in the uniqueness and variety of its hilly landscapes, with orderly cultivated areas and wild wooded areas that are captivating at first sight. A stay in Monferrato offers a multiple experience, capable of combining well-being, culture, nature, art, enogastronomy, and sports. Food enthusiasts will find osterie, gourmet restaurants, and establishments where they can taste the traditional flavors and variety of typical products from this region, paired with the famous Monferrato wines. Many of the surrounding municipalities near Cascina Baronina feature castles, museums, and artistic paths, all united by the presence of marvelous Infernot. These characteristic underground cellars are manually excavated in the rock, with constant temperature and humidity to provide optimal conditions for the preservation of the finest wine bottles.

Comune Ozzano Monferrato
Ozzano Monferrato is a small artistic treasure nestled in the greenery. The Old Village, perched on the hill, showcases the Church of Santo Salvatore, adorned with its refined frescoes, and the Castle with its origins dating back to the fifteenth century. The center of Ozzano harks back to its medieval roots and revolves around the panoramic square of the parish church, offering views of the castle gardens, the bell tower, and the church.
Comune Rosignano Monferrato
Among the most charming towns in Piedmont, Rosignano Monferrato is located just a few kilometers away from Casale Monferrato. It is a village in the land of "infernot," the characteristic underground cellars carved into the stone used for wine preservation. Rosignano's architectural highlights include the Castle of Uviglie, built between 1239 and 1271, perched on a hill just a stone's throw from the village. There's also the Mellana Castle, constructed in the early 20th century, and the ancient castle. Other notable landmarks in Rosignano are the civic tower and the churches of Sant'Antonio, San Vittore, and Madonna delle Grazie.
Comune Cella Monte
Just a stone's throw away from Rosignano Monferrato, Cella Monte is located in the area of the "infernot," the underground cellars. The village boasts the seventeenth-century Church of San Quirico and Palazzo Volta, which houses the Ecomuseum of Pietra da Cantoni. Cella Monte is a village rich in history, charm, and breathtaking views of the surrounding hills. It offers various paths to explore on foot, by bicycle, or on horseback, making it an ideal place to get lost in the beauty of the countryside.
Comune Cereseto
Cereseto appears among the green hills of Monferrato like a gem rich in history. Dominated by the majestic castle and its multiple towers, the village is situated close to the ancient Abbey of San Cassiano. The castle was destroyed in the 1600s and later rebuilt in 1912 by Riccardo Gualino. Several churches dating back to the eighteenth century can be found in Cereseto, including the Church of San Pietro Apostolo and the Church of Filippo e Giacomo. Just a few kilometers from Cereseto stands the Sacro Monte di Crea (UNESCO World Heritage Site), a place of deep spirituality and a destination for pilgrimages since ancient times. It features a devotional path dedicated to the Rosary, comprising 23 chapels and 5 hermitages.
Comune Lu e Cuccaro Monferrato
Once separate, the towns of Lu Monferrato and Cuccaro are now merged into a single municipality. A land of vineyards, farmers, and restaurateurs, it offers not one but two Big Benches (giant benches) to discover, as well as trails to explore among the hills, vineyards, and many small historical treasures to uncover. Along the ancient streets of the villages, you'll come across fascinating ancient towers and numerous viewpoints from which to admire the town from above and the beauty of the hilly landscape.
Comune Vignale Monferrato
Land of Infernot, this town boasts interesting architectural testimonies from the past, including the Church of San Bartolomeo Apostolo, which houses frescoes by Luigi Morgari and a 16th-century crucifix, and Palazzo Callori, the residence of the lords of Vignale, now home to the Regional Enoteca of Monferrato.
Comune Altavilla Monferrato
Strategically located in the valley of the Grana stream, the municipality of Altavilla stands as a stop along the ancient Roman road that connected Asti and Casale. The Parish Church of San Giulio houses some works by Moncalvo, a famous painter from the area. The church was consecrated in 1630 and features inside "The Last Supper" by Caccia and "The Wedding at Cana" by Musso. In Altavilla, you can also find the facilities of one of the oldest distilleries in Italy: the Antica distilleria Mazzetti in the Cittadella area, where the Grappa Museum is also located.
Comune Fubine Monferrato
Fubine is one of the 14 villages declared UNESCO World Heritage Sites. It boasts the highest concentration of "infernot," with around fifty officially registered in the entire Monferrato area. Two other places of interest in the municipality are Palazzo Bricherasio, a castle with an adjoining suspended garden dating back to the 19th century, and "Lo Spalto," which is what remains of the ancient walls that once surrounded the village.
Comune Moncalvo
Medieval village nestled among the hills of Monferrato, Moncalvo is known to be the smallest city in Italy, rich in enogastronomic and cultural traditions. Thanks to its strategic hilltop location, it became one of the main fortresses of Monferrato, passing through the hands of the Marquises of Monferrato, the Gonzaga family, and the Savoy family over the centuries. Even today, the streets of the city center preserve examples of historic palaces dating back to the Middle Ages and the Renaissance. In the main square, besides a charming belvedere, two particular buildings can be found: the historic 19th-century theater, still in use today, and the ancient synagogue. Moncalvo is the venue for two important fairs: the Truffle Fair in October and the historical Fat Ox Fair in early December.Discover Cascina Baronina and Monferrato
